Walled Lake is a town in the southern half of Commerce Township in Oakland County in the US state of Michigan. The population is 6,999 at the 2010 census.

The name of this city is said to have been given by the first European-American settler, Walter Hewitt, in 1825. Upon arrival there, he saw what appeared to be a stone wall along the western edge of the lake, probably built by the Potawatomi Indians before.

History
Walled Lake is a village inhabited by the Ojibwa and Potowatamie people until about 1830. Apparently these people have moved from a previous village in what is now Southfield.

Hispanic or Latin of any race is 1.68% of the population.

Police services
In February 2007, Walled Lake and Wolverine Lake agreed to share police services; Walled Lake was responsible for the delivery service, and all police operations on Lake Wolverine were moved to Walled Lake.

The Walled Lake Consolidated Schools serves Walled Lake and has its district headquarters, Education Service Center, in town. The Community Education Center in this district is also in Walled Lake.
Schools within the city limits are Mary Helen Guest Elementary School and Walled Lake Elementary School. Most of the city is categorized into these schools. Some are categorized into Meadowbrook Elementary School and Hickory Woods Elementary School.
Sections are categorized into James R. Geisler Middle School, and the sections are categorized into Sarah Banks Middle School. Most of Walled Lake is categorized into Walled Lake Western High School, while most of Walled Lake is categorized into Walled Lake Central High School.
Underground Railway
Break points along the Underground Railroad, where escaped slaves can sleep and eat, are called "depots". One of these is the Farmers' Rejuvenation Home (built in 1833) on Walled Lake, which serves as a refuge for those who make their way to freedom in Canada. The Foster Farmhouse was located on the Pontiac Trail near 15 miles of roads until 1997, when it was moved to Riley Park in downtown Walled Lake to avoid unloading.
