Car Seat is the seat used in the car. Most car seats are made of cheap but durable materials to withstand long-term use. The most common material is polyester.

The seat bench is a separate seat with a contoured platform designed to accommodate one person, unlike the flat bench seats that are designed to accommodate up to three people. Individual bucket seats usually have a rounded back and can offer various adjustments to fit different passengers.

Folding chairs
Early touring cars feature additional folding seats to offer additional passenger capacity. Some of the earliest cars are available with exterior rumbling chairs that are folded open onto a plated seat for one or two passengers.
Some sedan models offer folding rear seats (eg Chevrolet Corvair), to get cargo space when they are not occupied by passengers.
Foldable front passenger seats are featured on PT Cruiser Chrysler to load longer items such as 8 feet (2.4 m) stairs in the vehicle.
Ergonomics: lumbar and thigh support
Lumbar is the spinal region between the diaphragm and the pelvis; it supports the heaviest and most flexible. The adjustable lumbar mechanism on the seat allows the user to change the shape of the seat backs in the region, to make it more comfortable and include customizable lumbar pillows. Some chairs are long enough to support the full thighs and follow the turns back.
Security
The Traffic Safety and National Motor Vehicle Act enacted by the United States in 1966 set the standard of force for car seats. This includes the requirements for the proper placement and construction of motor vehicle seat assemblies. The legal requirement in some jurisdictions for a child sitting in front is 5'0 and they should consider more than 80 lbs. Some studies have shown that drivers have a reluctance to carry passengers at full capacity due to concerns over inadequate vision through the rear window.
- The anti-submarine seat is a kind of chair that combines a special shaped panel on the front edge of the seat cushion, reducing the passenger's tendency to slide under the seat belt in a severe frontal collision. The anti-submarine seat is a safety feature that may be more important for the front seat than the rear seats.
- A child safety seat or child holding system is a restraint secured to a car seat equipped with a seat belt or seat belt, to hold a child in the event of an accident. The 50 states require a child seat with special criteria. Requirements vary by age, weight, and height of child. The National Childhood Passenger Safety Board, administered by the National Safety Council, maintains the quality and integrity of the National Passport Child Safety Certification Training Program. This program is used to train and certify passenger safety technicians and instructors to help carers in safe transportation for children.
Side airbags are often made right at the side of the seat. Such seats shall not be covered which impedes the operation of airbags.
Electric chair
Some car seat systems are set with battery-powered automatic controls to adjust how seats sit in the car.
In well-equipped cars, chairs and mirrors can be adjusted using electrical controls. Some vehicles let the driver (s) store the adjustments in memory (seat memory) to recall later, by pressing a button. Most systems allow users to store more than one set of customizations. This allows multiple drivers to store their comfort settings, or a single driver to store multiple different occupant positions. Some vehicles connect the memory settings with a specially operated remote key fob, rearranging the position to the position associated with the fob when the vehicle is unlocked (eg fob lock # 1 assigns the seat to memory position # 1, # 2 to # 2, etc..).
Include
Car seat covers are accessories that protect the original seat seat from wear and add a custom look to the interior of the vehicle. They can help maintain the resale value of the vehicle and maximize the comfort of the driver and passengers.

Climate and ventilation control
Some vehicles include seat climate control options (ie heating with chair warmers) and ventilation. Ventilation was introduced in 1997 by Saab and heating by Cadillac in 1966.
