Young Storytellers , formerly Young Storytellers Foundation , is a non-profit art education that operates primarily in Los Angeles.
Young Storytellers currently serves elementary, middle, and middle school students in Southern California, including the cities of Los Angeles, Culver City, Santa Monica, and Burbank. Young Storyteller targets School Title 1; these are schools and school districts with the highest concentrations of poverty where academic performance tends to be low and the barriers to improved performance are the greatest. This program improves writing, literacy, and confidence.

History
Young storytellers began as a mentoring program at school in 1997 - by three screenwriters Mikkel Bondesen, Brad Falchuk, and Andrew Barrett after learning about a reduction in funding for a creative arts program at a Los Angeles public school. The first school to be adopted into the program was elementary school in Culver City. This program was entered as 501 (c) (3) in 2003.

Program
This organization benefits primary schools, high schools, and high schools. In 2016, 20th Century Fox invites Young Storytellers students to participate in Fox Intensive Writers.
Scripts to Stage
The Script to Stage program is the main program where students in the fifth grade write short dramas within ten weeks later to be performed by actors on stage. Students in the program are selected on several criteria by teachers and may include students who are not proficient in English, have difficulty in reading and writing, or have social assimilation problems. The Script to Stage program generates 900 scripts per year.
Volunteers
The program is run in each school by a Mentor Head volunteer and Mentor volunteer. Each mentor works one on one with a student for a duration of nine weeks program to create scenarios and the resulting scenarios are then performed by volunteer players. There are currently more than 2,500 volunteers in Los Angeles who serve 1,200 students in 60 schools.
Funding
The organization received grants from the Foreign Press Association of Hollywood several times. In 2013 the organization is represented by Olivia Wilde and receives a portion of the $ 1.6 million in grants granted by HFPA that year. 2016 in the amount of $ 10,000.
By 2015, the organization receives a grant of $ 4.5 million awarded to the art world of Los Angeles from Michael Bloomberg Philanthropies. Jane Fonda's, Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & amp; Potential, also has provided funds.
Leading Perform
The Storytellers 'annual fundraising, "The Biggest Show," invites actors and comedians from movies and television to showcase their students' scenarios. In 2014, student scenarios were performed by Rob Corddry, Max Greenfield, John Cho, Alison Brie, Jillian Bell, and Stephanie Beatriz. Corddry states, "[program] is a kind of myth in this world that I run You can not have a bad time No pressure You can not fail It's pretty much what you want as an actor, almost everything I'm looking for my life ". In 2016, when asked about "The Biggest Show", Seth Rogen said: "One of the main things that I want to do is encourage these kids to continue doing this, I am not the type who will endure through despair at that age.
