The North Hills is a community in San Fernando Valley in the north-central, and in the City of Los Angeles, California.
North Hills was originally an agricultural community known as Mission Acres . After World War II, the newly developed suburban community was renamed Sepulveda until the 1990s.

Geography
Northridge is to the west, Panorama City is in the east, Van Nuys is in the south, and Granada Hills in the north.
Main roads include: Sepulveda Boulevard and Roscoe Boulevard; Hayvenhurst, Woodley, and Haskell Avenues; and Lassen, Plummer, and Nordhoff Streets. The northern hills are limited by Balboa Boulevard and Bull Creek ("laundering") to the west, Devonshire and Lassen Street to the north, Pacoima Wash to the east, and Roscoe Boulevard to the south.

History
In the late 18th and 19th centuries this site was part of the Mission of San Fernando Rey de Espaà ± a, until 1846 when it became part of Mission Ex Rancho San Fernando of André Pico, near AndrÃÆ' © s Pico Adobe. The Californio Sepulveda family, returning to the Los Angeles Pueblo establishment, is the source of various Los Angeles venues, including the post-war Sepulveda community. Sepulveda Boulevard is the main north/south road through the North Hills, across the Sepulveda Pass to the south.
In 1992, the western population of Sepulveda, west of the San Diego Freeway, chose to secede from the eastern part to form a new community called North Hills.
