Rate and rate

As in last season, the artist with the best tattoos, considered by the jury, won the challenge. One lowest rating of each episode is sent home. Minor changes in judging and related rules have occurred throughout the season.

The list type of judges is:

  • Assessment Panel
The panel of judges is a table of three main judges, and every guest judge for the episode if applicable.
  • Guest Judge
A guest judge is selected for appearance and participation in several episodes, and is usually an expert in skills tested by contestants in particular challenges. He collaborated with the Assessment Panel to finalize the voting decision. The voice of a guest judge has the same weight as an ordinary judge.
  • Audience Selector
Voting is done through Facebook and Twitter, and is introduced in season 2. In season 5, the voting of the audience is used in the final episode to guarantee one of the finalists in the top two places.
  • Human Canvas Voting
After the tattoos are over, the canvases for the challenge come together and pick the best and worst of the day's tattoos. While the main judge has a final decision, the weight of the canvas vote does not affect the final decision of the assessment panel. This is the new place for Ink Master series.

Win or lose

Contestants compete to display their power in various aspects of tattoo art. Challenges of Elimination Each week has special skills that must be displayed by the artists. To determine the winner, the judge must decide who has the best tattoos, which should also follow the guidelines for the skills being tested. A contestant is at risk of elimination if they make a technically solid tattoo that does not meet the style or subject criteria for this week. To win, a contestant must surpass another artist while following the skills chosen for the challenge. Artists whose tattoos are rated as the worst in a week will be eliminated.

Episode

The episode begins with the Flash Challenge, a task that usually does not deal with the tattoo itself, but has contestants utilizing skills related to tattoos in unusual ways. Most of the skills highlighted in the Flash Challenge are required to complete the Tattoo Elimination. The Flash Challenge Winner gets to select the human canvases that they want to tattoo during the elimination tattoos and assign each of their canvas contestants. The contestants are then given the opportunity to meet their canvas before tattooing them the next day when they will be given a certain amount of time to do the tattoo. An assessment panel then begins where the best tattoos this week are recognized, weak tattoos are shown and one contestant removed from the competition.
