Aloft Hotels is a North American-based hotel chain, owned by Starwood Hotels & amp; Resorts Worldwide (acquired by Marriott International in October 2016), though this is referred to as "W Hotels vision". The first hotel opened at Trudeau International Airport in Montreal in 2008. Aloft Hotels has since opened in North America and internationally. Most of the Aloft hotels are located in the city center or near the airport.
This brand is best known for its modern architectural design style. Another characteristic of the Aloft hotel is the naming of basic hotel amenities. For example, in every hotel, the pool is referred to as "splash".

Aloft Hotels was conceived in 2005 by Starwood Hotels. The hotel chain already has many brands, including Sheraton, Westin, and W Hotels, but is looking to expand into a more contemporary hotel market, which will eventually become known as a boutique hotel. To reflect its relationship with Starwood Hotels, the Aloft brand is dubbed the "A Vision of W Hotels". Starwood works with architectural firm Rockwell Group and its founder, David Rockwell, to create designs.
To arouse interest in the brand before the opening of 2008, Starwood launched a virtual tour of the hotel using Second Life, whose site allows visitors to move to the distinctive Aloft Hotel and explore its aspects in detail. Starwood monitors site statistics, measures public acceptance based on visitor opinions, and incorporates this information into the design of Aloft Hotels in the future.

Environmental impact
Aloft Hotels seeks to reduce environmental impact. An example is Aloft Milwaukee Downtown, where outdoor landscaping is done to try to give a fresh green image outside the hotel. On the inside, engineers use natural wood treatments and materials such as corks to reduce negative effects on the environment. Guest rooms have soap dispensers in the bathroom, not bottles, and the option to store towels for some use. The parking spaces are designed specifically for hybrid vehicles, which encourage guests to make environmentally responsible choices.
Location
Since its first hotel opened in 2008, the Aloft brand has grown rapidly. The hotel originally started in North America and expanded to include international locations. According to the Aloft website, in the United States there are locations currently in 27 states. There are also open locations in Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, UK, Germany, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Uruguay.
In 2011 and 2012, 20 proposed sites were opened, including in Mexico, Thailand, Colombia, and the UK, totaling 66 vast locations. Although positive for hotel brands, this number is well below the initial anticipation to have 500 locations by 2012.
In early 2013, the brand opened 482 room properties in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, making it the largest Aloft hotel in the world. The hotel has a ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,000 people in the theater setting.
In 2013, the network opened a new hotel in Ernst & amp; Young Tower in Cleveland, Ohio.
In September 2016, Aloft enters the Saudi Arabian market with a new hotel near Riyadh center.
In December 2016, Aloft Long Island City-Manhattan View opened.
In 2017 and 2018 Aloft is scheduled to open property in Kiev, Ukraine and St. Petersburg, Russia, respectively.
Aloft Hotels has opened several locations in areas that have shown low growth in recent times, helping to revitalize the struggling urban areas. For example, the location of Aloft opened in downtown Milwaukee in December 2009 is the first new hotel built in Milwaukee since 2001. The hotel opened in Harlem, New York in December 2010 was the first hotel opened there in 40 years. The first Aloft Hotel opened on the outskirts of Perth Rivervale on May 26, 2017.
Reception
General acceptance of Aloft Hotels has been mixed. The majority of opinions revolve around two main aspects of the hotel brand: room rates, and contemporary styles.
The trademark culture of Aloft Hotels has also attracted some criticism. The contemporary theme of Aloft Hotels is not appreciated by everyone, and some critics feel that Aloft Hotels has too many "cookie cutter" nuances to them. In addition, the sequence of colors, shapes, and terms from the first moment in the hotel has been noted as too much to handle.
