Springfield Township is a township in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population is 3,043 at the 2010 census. The Connellsville Area School District serves the township.
Normalville, Mill Run, Rogers Mill, and Pleasant Hill are unrelated communities in the township. Mill Run contains Fallingwater homes.

Geography
Township in northeast Fayette County, bordered by east by Somerset County. According to the US Census Bureau, the municipality has a total area of ââ59.6 square miles (154.4 km 2 ), which is 59.4 square miles (153.9 km 2 ) is ground and 0.2 square miles (0.6 km 2 ), or 0.38%, is water. The Youghiogheny River forms the southwestern boundary of the township. Indian Creek is a river that flows southwest across the municipal center and enters Youghiogheny in the western part of the township.
Pennsylvania Route 381 crosses the municipal center, heading north to Donegal Town and south to Ohiopyle. Pennsylvania Route 653 ends at PA 381 in Normalville near the municipal center and leads southeast to Laurel Hill to Rockwood. Pennsylvania Route 711 follows PA 381 in the northern part of the township, then turns west in Normalville and leads to Chestnut Ridge to Connellsville.
Normalville was originally named "Elm". In the late 1800s, regular schools (schools to train teachers) were built near the site of Springfield Primary School today. Following the school building, the community was renamed "Normalville".

Demographics
At the 2000 census, 3,111 people, 1,158 households, and 877 families living in the township. Population density was 52.0 people per square mile (20.1/km ò). 1,283 units of houses on average 21.4/mi 2 (8.3/km 2 ). Racial makeup of the township is 98.97% White, 0.23% Native American, 0.03% Asian, 0.03% of other races, and 0.74% of two or more races. Hispanic or Latin of any race is 0.64% of the population.
Of the 1,158 households, 34.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.1% were married couples living together, 9.8% had non-husbands female households, and 24.2% were not family. Approximately 21.7% of all households are made up of individuals, and 9.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.10.
In the municipality, the population is distributed as 26.0% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.3% years or more. The mean age is 36 years. For every 100 women, there are 100.1 men. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there are 98.4 men.
The median income for municipal households is $ 29,133, and for a family is $ 32,160. Men have an average income of $ 26,644 compared to $ 18,625 for women. The per capita income for municipalities is $ 12,608. Approximately 17.3% of families and 21.7% of the population are below the poverty line, including 28.2% of those under the age of 18 and 11.0% of those aged 65 and older.
