The Snake (? ) is the sixth of a 12-year animal cycle that appears in the Chinese zodiac and is related to the Chinese calendar. The Year of the Snake is associated with the symbol of the Earthly Branch ? .
According to one mythical legend, there is a reason to sequence 12 animals in a 12-year cycle. According to the story, the race is held to cross the big river, and the order of animals in the cycle is based on their order in completing the race. In this story, Snake balances not to be the best swimmer by riding a horse hidden in Horse's hooves, and when the Horse is just about to cross the finish line, jump out, scare the Horse, and thus creep out for the six places.
The same 12 animals are also used to symbolize clock cycles during the day, each associated with a two hour period. The Snake Hour is 9:00 to 11:00 am, as the Sun warms the Earth, and Snakes are said to slide out of their holes. Snake Month is May 5th, until 5th of June.
The reason animal signs referred to as the zodiac is that a person's personality is said to be influenced by animal signs governing the time of birth, along with elements of the elements of animal signs in the sexagenary cycle. Similarly, the year set by the mark of a particular beast should be marked with it, with a very strong effect for those born in the year governed by the mark of the same beast.
In Chinese symbology, Snakes are considered intelligent, but tend to be somewhat immoral.

Note that in Japan the new sign of the zodiac begins on January 1, while in China begins, according to the traditional Chinese calendar, on the New Moon that falls between January 21 and February 20, so people born in January or February may have two different marks in both countries.
