Dearborn Heights is a town in Wayne County, in the Detroit metropolitan area, in the State of Michigan. The population was 57,774 at the 2010 census.

Histori
Dearborn Heights was established from two disconnected sections of Dearborn Township and a quarter mile of connecting land from Inkster village. The merger request was filed on Friday, March 4, 1960, while Inkster officials submitted their petition for merger on Monday, March 7, 1960. The residents approved the establishment of Dearborn Heights in the election held June 20, 1960, which was the official date of establishment. Inkster, a black-dominated community, filed a lawsuit, claiming that the Dearborn Heights form reflects the racial gerrymander. The Michigan Supreme Court declared that Inkster had failed to point out the dangers that were legally recognized and dismissed the lawsuit.

Geography

Demographics
By 2014 Arab Americans have moved to the city, with the north end having more Arabs compared to the southern end. Many Arab businesses in Dearborn set up branches in Dearborn Heights. City's racial makeup is 91.64% White, 2.12% African American, 0.37% Native American, 2.24% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Island, 0.81% of other races, and 2.81 % of two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race is 3.39% of the population. 19.8% are from Poland, 12.3% Germany, 8.8% Arab, 8.3% Italian, 8.0% Irish and 5.3% of British ancestors according to the 2000 Census. 82.1% speak English, 6.6% Arab, 2.3% Polish, 2.1% Spanish, 1.5% Italian and 1.0% Macedonian as their first language.
There were 23,276 households where 27.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.7% were married couples living together, 10.8% had non-husbands female households, and 32.2% were not family. 28.0% of all households are individual and 13.0% have a living person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the city, the population is spread by 22.5% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 18.7% years or more. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females, there are 93.2 males. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there are 90.4 men.
The average income for households in the city is $ 48,222, and the average income for families is $ 54,392. Men have an average income of $ 45,226 compared to $ 29,234 for women. The per capita income for the city is $ 22,829. Dearborn Heights Tax Authority Finance Improvement Authority (TIFA)
Since the establishment of TIFA in 1986, many projects have been completed, including the new Center for Justice and Library JFK. The Dearborn Heights Tax Increment Finance Authority is a community service office branching out of the State of Michigan and Dearborn Heights Town. The goal is to encourage economic revitalization and historic preservation. TIFA remains established to continue efforts to improve living standards for all district residents.

Dearborn Heights is divided into five school districts. Most of the northern tip residents are in the Crestwood School District or Dearborn Public School, while the southern tip population falls into the Westwood Community School District or Dearborn Heights School District No. 7. Dearborn High School serves all Dearborn Heights residents at Dearborn schools.
A small part in Wayne-Westland Community School. These are categorized into Hicks Elementary School in Inkster, Marshall Upper Elementary School in Westland, Stevenson Middle School in Westland, and John Glenn High School in Westland.
Parts of Dearborn Heights in the Taylor School District were assigned to Taylor Park Elementary School, Hoover Middle School, and Harry S. Truman High School, all at Taylor.

The Roman Catholic archdiocese of Detroit operates St. Anthony's School. Mel in Dearborn Heights. It was closed in 2005. Other private schools include St. Linus Catholic School and St. Anselm Catholic School.

The Henry Ford College campus is located at the northern end of the mid-1970s until 2014.
Public library
The Dearborn Heights Library System operates the Caroline Kennedy Library and John F. Kennedy Jr. Library.
