The Black Code is the American medical drama television series created by Michael Seitzman aired on CBS on September 30, 2015. It takes place in the overcrowded and short-lived emergency room at Los Angeles, California, and is based on a documentary by Ryan McGarry. On May 16, 2016, the event was updated for the 13-episode second season aired on September 28, 2016. On November 14, 2016, CBS added three more episodes to bring the total season to 16.
The series was updated for the third season on May 14, 2017, which aired on April 25, 2018. On May 24, 2018, CBS canceled the series after three seasons.

Plot
On January 27, 2015, the show's pilot episode received a green welcome from CBS. On June 4, Brett Mahoney was appointed as executive producer for Code Black .
On October 23, 2015, CBS ordered six new scripts for Black Code . The following month, CBS ordered five additional episodes. CBS updated the event for the second season in May 2016.
Casting
On February 17, 2015, Marcia Gay Harden plays Christa, a soccer mother who lost her son to cancer. On February 23, Melanie Chandra was selected as Malaya, a doctor who started her residency. Maggie Grace acted as Dr. Leanne Rorish, the main cast, the next day. On March 3, Luis Guzman was set to act as Jose Santiago, a senior nurse. The character's name was later changed to Jesse Salander. The next day, Raza Jaffrey plays Neal, and Ben Hollingsworth is set to act as Mario, a new resident. When Grace left the show before the filming began, Leanne's role was later given to Harden, and Bonnie Somerville was cast in the role of Harden as Christa.
At the end of season 1, Somerville and Jaffrey leave the main players, and recurring actors Jillian Murray and Boris Kodjoe join the lead cast, repeating their respective roles. Heather Pickney and Dr. Will Campbell. Rob Lowe also joins the lead role as Colonel Ethan Willis, Doctor of Combat Military Care assigned to Angels as part of the Marine Corps training program. In 2017, Moon Bloodgood plays a role in the paramedic role of Rox Valenzuela for the series' third season, and is then promoted to the regular series on the fourth episode of the third season. The discovery of Bloodgood follows Chandra and Murray's departure.

Reception
Black Code has received mixed criticism from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, this series has a rating of 54%, based on 39 reviews. The essential consensus of the site reads, "Though it does not rediscover the stethoscope, Black Code is above average drama, with the right theater storyline forming an occasional rowdy dialogue." At Metacritic, this series has a score of 53 out of 100, based on 26 criticisms, showing "mixed or average review".
In 2016 the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, Harden won Best Actress in the Golden Nymph Award TV Series, while Code Black was nominated for Best TV Drama Series.
