The Boulder Valley School District No. Re2 is a school district in Colorado, headquartered at BVSD Education Center in Boulder County, near Boulder. The district serves Boulder, Gold Hill, Jamestown, Lafayette, Louisville, Nederland, Superior, and Ward. The area also includes parts of Broomfield and Erie.
The Boulder Valley Education Council officially appointed Bruce K. Messinger, Ph.D., the current deputy head of the district, to become the new superintendent on July 1, 2011. Messinger, 54, succeeded Dr. Chris King. On May 9, 2017, the Boulder Valley of Education voted unanimously to dismiss Messinger. Cindy Stevenson, former head of the Jefferson County school district, was hired as a temporary inspector on June 19, 2017.

Histori
Before the 1957 District Organization Act of 1957 was passed by the Colorado Legislature, Boulder County was served by several local school districts. The consolidation of many smaller districts resulted from the Act and in 1960, Boulder County served by two reorganizations of the school district. Boulder Valley School District RE-2 serves the southern part of the county; Saint Vrain Valley School District RE-1J, the north.

Community program
Community courses and extended day care opportunities are provided to district residents by Community Schools, an organization that uses tuition and usage fees for operational costs. It operates four programs: Lifelong Learning, which offers courses for adults and children; Kindergarten Care, which offers extended childcare for Kindergarten students, School Age Program, which offers before and after school programs and summer camps for elementary school students; and the BVSD Facility Use Program, which makes school facilities publicly available.

Bond projects
In 2006, $ 296.8 million was approved for upgrading district facilities by voters from the Boulder Valley School District. There are three phases planned, with the most needed changes in the first phase.
